The Chapel Hill Young Professionals (CHYP pronounced "chip") is a group of fun professionals under 40 that meets monthly for networking, professional development, and community service. 

Events are monthly on the first Tuesday. Pop-up joint events and community service projects are added to the calendar regularly and members receive event notifications via newsletter.

Movies can be magical. We all have memories of that joy and anticipation when the house lights fade and the silver screen comes to life. And memories of those great movies that populate our past, marking periods of our lives as clearly as events in the real world. But I dare say that not a single one of those movie memories happened sitting on a couch watching Netflix. Come on; you know that I’m right. Movies are made for the theater. For popcorn. And the shared experience of watching a story come to life on the big screen. Period.

In April, The Lumina will be back in the business of bringing that magic to Chapel Hill and Carrboro. You could even call it “The Lumina, Part II.” And don’t worry, we promise that this local cinema won’t follow the old Hollywood adage that the sequel is never as good as the original. The new Lumina has brand new seats and brand new screens. We’re adding an honest-to-god bar where you can have a drink before a movie or after - or just for the hell of it. We are also sincerely upping our concession game with bubble tea and soft serve ice cream, classic and vegan hot dogs for every palate and drool-worthy nachos. A night at the theater never tasted so good. Game? Officially changed.

And, of course, we will have great movies. The latest and greatest mixed in with a healthy dose of remastered classics that deserve to be seen again on the silver screen. The Lumina is a local cinema - your local cinema. And we will curate what flickers to life night after night in our theaters with you in mind and this special place we call home.
