All are encouraged to participate in the first Chapel Hill-Carrboro NAACP #BuyBlackCHC Scavenger Hunt and the many local Juneteenth celebrations
Chapel Hill, NC: The Chamber For a Greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro encourages all members and residents to celebrate Juneteenth and support local Black businesses through a fun and meaningful scavenger hunt coordinated by the Chapel Hill-Carrboro NAACP.
“The Chamber is delighted to co-sponsor the first Chapel Hill-Carrboro NAACP Juneteeth Black Business Scavenger Hunt and hope folks will join us in participating,” said Aaron Nelson, President & CEO, The Chamber For a Greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro.
Scavenger Hunt: The scavenger hunt, called “#BuyBlackCHC Scavenger Hunt!” is an opportunity for all participants to support Black-owned businesses, learn Black history, and win prizes. The more than 100 trivia questions and activities are open to all and made available through the free GooseChase app, which features virtual and in-person options.
Participate: It is free and easy to participate with three simple steps.
- Download the free GooseChase iOS or Android app and create a personal account with username and password of your choice.
- Select the Juneteenth BoB Scavenger Hunt game (you can search for it using game code VJ9WKX, and the password is #buyblackchc).
- Follow the prompts to create your player profile and begin completing the more than 100 trivia questions and activities.

Juneteenth: Juneteenth, also known as Emancipation Day, commemorates the emancipation of enslaved people in the United States. The Towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro proclaimed the observance and commemoration of Juneteenth for Saturday, June 19, 2021. The Chamber encourages all members to take time to learn about, celebrate, and honor the incredible contributions of Black Americans to our nation and community.
